Let’s make our brand new wood a bit more interesting.
To add some patina to the wood, VrayDirt is just what we need. Change the Bitmap in the Diffuse slot to VrayDirt and place the texture in the Unoccluded color slot. Increase the Radius a bit and double the Subdivs value to get a noise-free result.
It’s a bit weak and too smooth. Add a Radius map (this can be any b&w dirtmap you have).
Make the Dirt stronger by chaining a few VrayDirt maps.
All three maps have the same settings, but chaining makes the effect stronger.
Take the Reflection map and make the wood more high-contrast.
Add some spots and patches on a new layer.
Add another layer and paint some blurry white areas. Lower the opacity to blend it with the layers below.
To see how it looks, just change your Reflect map to the new one.
Brighten up this image and make it less contrasted by using curves. Use it for Glossiness as well.
Change the white blurry areas to dark grey.
Add some noise and scratches to the Bump map.
Here is our worn, oiled wood material.
