We have noticed that some artists are having issues with the new CheckMate process once an inspection has failed. There are three CheckMate stages where a product can fail:
- The Product Preview stage
- The Native File inspection
- The Non-Native File inspection
Let’s review what your options are for each of these stages. Please note that all of the options for these stages appear at the bottom right corner of the Publisher. This leads to the Squid.io inspection interface, where you can communicate with Inspectors.
A Quick Note On Canceling Submissions
Before we cover the three inspection stages, here is some important information on canceling a submission.
Good reasons to cancel:
- You no longer wish to have your model certified
- You want to open a CheckMate submission slot for another asset
- An Inspector has requested that you quit the submission for technical or other reasons
Bad reasons to cancel:
- You are hoping to get a different Inspector
- You are not sure why you cannot resubmit or how to resubmit
If you are having issues with the resubmission process, it is best to contact your Inspector. If for some reason you cannot communicate with your Inspector, feel free to contact TurboSquid support with your ticket information, and they will gladly update you with information from your Inspector. If you decide to cancel your submission, you lose the ability to communicate with the Inspector, which means you will have to wait for your model to come back to the front of the queue before it can be inspected again.
Product Preview Stage
If your product has been failed at the Product Preview stage, you will have the ability to do the following:
- Resubmit your model as either Pro or Lite
- Change your submission from Pro to Lite or change your submission from Lite to Pro
- Review the CheckMate inspection
- Quit the submission using the cancel link
At this stage, you should start by clicking the “Review CheckMate Inspection” link to find out what changes need to be made to your product page. This will take you to the Squid.io inspection interface (below) where you can communicate with an Inspector.
Once you know what should be fixed on the product page, edit your product information according to the Inspector’s comments and resubmit to the appropriate CheckMate standard. To finish the update process, click the Publish button to resubmit your product for review by Inspectors.
Native File and Non-Native File Inspections
The native file and non-native files share a similar update process, with a few distinctions which will be noted below.
Clicking the “Review CheckMate Inspection” link takes you to your Squid.io inspection interface where you will have the ability to update your model file. To do so use the Update file link, then click “SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL”.
The file update process is similar for both native and non-native files, and both Pro and Lite submissions, but there are a few distinctions between those categories.
- Non-native files cannot be resubmitted until each one has been inspected. It is important to review the message in the Squid.io inspector interface because this states the true status of your submission. In the image below, you can see all of the file formats have a status of passed or failed (the green checks or red X’s next to the formats). Note that there is also a Task message stating QA is checking the non-native 3ds Max product with Pro Checkmate certification standards. That indicates the active status of the inspection.
- Pro submissions can remove non-native files from inspection while Lite submissions cannot. If a non-native file has been failed, you will see an additional option in the Squid.io inspection interface that says Do not certify file. Doing this will remove the model from the inspection.
