The concept is simple and it’s something we see in life: A beautiful stone should retain its beauty no matter what lighting scenario it’s being viewed in. This also goes for 3D models, and even though your model will look best with custom professional lighting… it should also look good with standard HDRI lighting. It is for this reason that we’ve created a calibrated ‘Clean Room’ to create your StemCell materials.
Calibrated Scenes
It is extremely important you work within the approved calibrated lighting environment when creating your textures and materials for StemCell models. Since StemCells are physically based, you’ll rely exclusively on HDR images for lighting your scene. To assist you, we’ve created a special HDRI with calibrated values and zero color information.

By using the supplied HDRI, you will not have to worry about incorrect values causing the render to be too bright or too dark, and you will not have to worry about colored lights or objects bouncing unwanted color information onto your model.
